Sample Answer 1
I'm going to tell you about my very first childhood "best pal." I'll try to explain our friendship so you may understand why we were so close by explaining how we met, how long we were friends, what we did, and why I liked her so much.
During my time in junior high school, I first met my friend Tracey. We were seated next to each other in class on the first day of the school year; I don't think we intentionally chose that; we likely just sat where we were told to; nevertheless, we hit it off right away and remained close friends from the time we were about 8 years old until we left for senior school at the age of about eleven. Unfortunately, because we were attending different schools at that time, our friendship deteriorated. When we were younger, though, we were inseparable.
We shared comparable interests, Tracey and I. We both like being outside, horses (although neither of us rode or had access to ponies back then), and craft-related hobbies (although she was incredibly skilled and only got as far as coloring in images)! My most vivid memory is of us setting off on our bikes in tandem for extended periods of time. I used to ride my bike to her place, then we'd go to the park together with a picnic lunch and spend the entire day playing games there because she lived very close to a sizable park. Though it was entertaining at the time, I now cringe to recall how we rode around pretending to be horses or playing whatever game was popular. To test who could hold up a hoop for the longest skip without pausing using a rope, we used to try hula hooping and skipping as well. She was probably more skilled than I was in both of these areas as well. When it came time to head home, we would occasionally try to discover and catch grasshoppers (always letting them go first), or we would simply lounge in the sun. Then, things were very different. I'm not sure if you could still let your kids play all day long because there were no mobile phones and people were lot more laid back about it. Even so, we were content and used to return to her home exhausted, sweaty, and sunburned. If we were lucky, her mother would provide us with lemonade to drink and perhaps cheese salad buns for tea. Indeed, happy memories!
The reason we liked each other was simple—we did! We enjoyed doing the same things and were free to discuss anything with one another, including our difficult homework, obnoxious parents, and other current problems. We also shared an interest in caring for our animals because she had pet bunnies and I had pet guinea pigs. We were somewhat near to one another and had bikes, which definitely helped. We could have amazing experiences together by pretending to live in brand-new worlds that we had created for ourselves because we both had great imaginations.
We stayed in touch for a while, but ultimately both of us moved on. Given her early artistic aptitude, it was not surprise that I believe she went on to achieve some level of notoriety as an artist. I hope she is happy and successful in whatever she does and wherever she ends up. I will always remember her as a great friend from when I was younger; I wonder whether she remembers me as well.

It is both energizing and reassuring to talk about our "old" pals, especially if they are acquaintances from our youth. So, as it brings back a lot of happy memories, I'd like to thank you for giving me the chance to talk about one of my childhood pals.
He went by the name "Eric Sunny," and I first encountered him at an inter-district school football (soccer) game, which was held at my school and featured a number of football teams from other districts. Anyway, Eric was the star of one of our opponents' teams, so I wanted to ask him for some friendly advice on how to play football well in general. Even though we don't really get out with one other nearly as frequently as we did during our school days, I have stayed friends with Eric ever since we first met.
Early on in our friendship, Eric would travel to visit me from his town, and I would travel to visit him. We would engage in a variety of activities together, including kite flying, swimming and fishing in lakes, hanging out in cafes and restaurants, watching movies, and occasionally playing football. Occasionally, during our summer vacations and other extended holidays, we used to visit to several fascinating locations within our own nation. I loved Eric for a variety of reasons, but what really sets him apart from the rest is his upbeat and supportive approach.
Eric and I had a terrific friendship since we respected and understood each other a lot. In addition, despite having divergent opinions on a variety of topics, we hardly ever disagreed about anything. Since I was a little too "lazy" for Eric's taste, he always used to encourage me to work harder and succeed. Eric was a great sportsman. But the best part of our friendship was that we were both considered like "family" by the families of the other.
